Once considered one of the most valuable products in the world, sugar cane has contributed significantly to the identity and growth of the Mauritian economy which was wholly based on the sugar production. For the current Ile Maurice, sugar is always important, but is no longer the mainstay of our economy.

The visit to "L'Aventure du Sucre" will be for you an incredible journey deep in our history. This museum, formerly known as the sugar factory of Beau Plan today tells our story that is related in one way or another to sugarcane. The tour will reveal planting methods of yesteryear and the production techniques of today.

Visiting this fabulous site takes about two hours and will conclude with a tasting of the different sugars and Mauritian rum.
